as the air crisped with the setting sun it was time to change into the beautiful dress we were so set on destroying. After a brief intermission Courtney returned, and the outfit was perfect! Again this street setting really brought home the feeling of prom photos in the front yard. I didn’t want to clean up a gymnasium so we opted for an expedited timeline compared to the movie for a bloody pour in the yard!
Check out her amazing outfit and some of the photos we snagged before the blood pour. I told her I will only destroy that dress if we can photograph it first.

We started this shoot with a beautiful location and a few outfits. I met the family at Flat Fork Creek park and was absolutely thrilled to see them! I’ve known her dad for a while. We started out walking around the center of the park where we took some incredible photos with a bright and airy natural light feel, it is this part of the evening where the light is still bright but soft. Right before sunset. I was using a bare bulb in my mono-light for fill flash. After about 15 minutes and some posing instruction, I wasn’t even having to help pose anymore!

What an iconic shoot for me. I took these towards the start of my journey into photographing people. Granted, I am one of those people that planned everything down to the light setup before I got there.
Squire Boone Caverns, located in southern Indiana, is an incredibly beautiful experience by itself. When we called to ask if we could drag photography lights and a model in a vintage wedding dress deep into the bowels of the earth, they seemed shocked! In hindsight, that was a much bigger task than I actually anticipated.
